Rest Assured

Romans 8:35-39
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written,
“For your sake we are being killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

“Nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Did you catch the gravity of that?

Nothing in creation is able to separate the Christian from the love of God, in Christ. Nothing in creation. Did you get that? Nothing…in…creation. The believer is part of creation, and nothing in creation can separate the Christian from Christ, therefore, there is nothing that even the believer can do to separate themselves from God. Those who repent of their sins and also trust in Christ are sealed for eternity, and NOTHING can change it. Nothing.

John 10:27-30
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”

“NO ONE CAN snatch them out of my (Jesus Christ) hand.”

Did you catch the gravity of that?

“NO ONE IS ABLE to snatch them out of my father’s hand.”

Did you catch the gravity of that?

1 Corinthians 6:19
“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?”

Did you catch the brevity of that?

The Holy Spirit, God, lives in the Christian.

When we put all of this together, we are left with an assurance of salvation for the Christian; and when assurance is assured, peace is assured; and when peace is assured, then rest is assured.

We know from John 10, as referenced above, that God the Father, who is “greater than all”, gave certain individuals, who “no one is able to snatch” from God the Father’s hand, to God the Son. God the Son, who gives them eternal life, who will “never perish” as a result, also holds them in His hand, and “no one will snatch them” out of His hand. Both God the Father and God the Son each hold the Christian, and NOTHING in creation can change that. And then we go one better: the Holy Spirit, who is also God, dwells within them. Two members of the triune Godhead hold the Christian, and the third Member dwells within the Christian.

The Christian is going no where.

Matthew 11:25-30
At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

I urge my brothers and sisters to rest confidently in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, because NOTHING can take us away from Him.
